I am working on a project which has two Intouch servers running for redundancy purpose. There are 4 viewers on the system. All 4 viewers are looking to the primary server and in case of primary failure, secondary server will respond immediately. My question is how I can make all four viewers to access all tags and data from the secondary in case of redundancy? I know if we use NAD then we can make viewer to access data from development server, but it requires development PC running everytime. Is it possible to use NAD in case of redundancy?

Any help will be much more appreciated.

Thanks,
Mahendra.

Mahendra,

There are two options to enable failover between a primary and secondary source.

1. You can implement Dynamic Reference Addressing by using the IOSetAccessName() function within a script. IOSetAccessName() modifies the application or topic name characteristics of an I/O tag’s Access Name during run time.

Syntax
IOSetAccessName("AccessName", "NodeName", "AppName", "TopicName");

2. You can set up server switching by optionally defining a secondary I/O data
source when you create an Access Name.

Best regards

In addition, please review Chapter 5 page 128 within the ITDataManagement guide - Using Failover Functionality with Access Names and page 51 of the InTouch Application Management and Extension guide - Configuring an InTouch Application for NAD.

I am using recipe manager to create recipes in this project. Is there any way to make recipe globally available for all viewers in case of redundancy i.e. rather than keeping it only on a developer machine can we keep it on a runtime machine as well?

How can we make viewer to load recipe using RecipeLoad() instruction from either of this machine?
